About Us here at Tri-County Excavating
Tri-County Excavating was originally founded in 1989 by Ben Sackrider. In 1996 Phillip Vandermus came on board as a full time Estimator/Project Engineer. In 2001 he became a partner and owns the business with his wife Marcia.
The company specializes in underground utilities, as well as general excavating, site work, road building, retaining walls, demolition and residential home sites. Phil continues to run the day-to-day operations and employs 20-25 dedicated, hardworking and highly skilled people: from laborers, truck drivers, equipment operators, to office staff. Our service area covers all Northern Lower Michigan, including some parts of the Upper Peninsula. We are based out of Harbor Springs, Michigan, where Phil and Marcia have been blessed to call home since 1990, and they enjoy the challenges that come with the business, but recognize it couldn’t be done without their family and friend’s support and exceptional employees’ time and commitment.
All of us here at Tri-County take pride in every, single job, no matter how big or small, and we have proven to be one of the best excavators in the construction industry throughout the area.
Tri-County owns several pieces of heavy equipment and trucks that enable us to perform and complete jobs in a timely and efficient manner.
Did you Know?
That Tri-County Excavating is a green contractor?
Since 2000 we have been recycling most of the waste from our construction sites. From dirt, to concrete, asphalt, and metal. We than recycle, process the material and return it to most of our jobs. All other material is taken to recycling facilities. Most of the reprocessed material is of better quality than the original product.
